Description

2 × 40 FT Container Home (Offset L-Shape) — Full Description

Project Overview

This container home is developed using two 40-foot shipping containers arranged in an offset L-shape configuration. The L-shaped layout creates a semi-open courtyard or deck area while allowing clear functional zoning between living and private spaces. The design is well-suited for both urban plots and open landscapes where indoor–outdoor living is desired.

  • Number of containers: 2
  • Container size: 40 FT each
  • Total built-up area: ≈ 60 m² (≈ 645 sq.ft.)
  • Configuration: Single-level, offset L-shaped arrangement
  • Use: Ideal for small families, weekend homes, villas, or Airbnb rentals

The offset placement enhances natural light, cross-ventilation, and spatial openness while creating a strong architectural identity.

Overall Dimensions (Per Container)

Length 40 ft (≈ 12.2 m)
Width 8 ft (≈ 2.4 m)
Internal Height 8 – 8.5 ft (after insulation & ceiling)

L-Shaped Layout Concept

The two containers are positioned perpendicular to each other, forming an L-shape. This creates a defined outdoor zone such as a private courtyard, sit-out, or deck that becomes an extension of the indoor living spaces.
