Description

3 × 40 FT Container Home (One Container Rotated) — Full Description

Project Overview

This architecturally expressive container home is developed using three 40-foot shipping containers, where two containers are aligned linearly and the third is rotated perpendicular to create a dynamic layout. The rotated container forms a visual focal point, improves zoning, and enables the creation of semi-open courtyards or shaded sit-out areas.

  • Number of containers: 3
  • Container size: 40 FT each
  • Total built-up area: ≈ 90 m² (≈ 970 sq.ft.)
  • Configuration: Single-level with one rotated container
  • Use: Ideal for modern villas, weekend homes, resorts, or premium Airbnb units

The rotated layout enhances natural light, cross-ventilation, and spatial definition while delivering a strong contemporary design statement.

Overall Dimensions (Per Container)

Length 40 ft (≈ 12.2 m)
Width 8 ft (≈ 2.4 m)
Internal Height 8 – 8.5 ft (after insulation & ceiling)
Area per container ≈ 30 m²

Rotated Layout Concept

Two containers form the main linear living block, while the third container is rotated 90 degrees to intersect or offset the main block. This creates clear functional separation between public and private spaces and allows for a courtyard, deck, or shaded outdoor zone at the junction.
